Guidelines for doing this course

  1. We recommend following the order of the screen pages to help you attain the learning objectives.
  2. You can work at your own pace; the computer will automatically correct an activity when you finish it.
  3. You can redo the activities as often as you like; the computer doesn't save your answers (it only keeps a record of whether you answered a question correctly or not).

Introduction

The introduction gives a brief course description and states the learning objectives to be attained. It also includes a diagnostic test and review activities.

Learning objectives

Each course targets terminal objectives that are stated in the program of study. Each terminal objective is subdivided into intermediate objectives. In Trigonometry I, each unit is linked to an intermediate objective, also called a learning objective.

Diagnostic test

The diagnostic test will tell you if you have the prior knowledge required to do the course. Although you can do the test as often as you like, only your first result will be saved by the computer. Therefore, it's important that you answer all the questions before starting the automatic correction. Remember: the computer will keep track only of the first result you obtain for this test.

Review activities

When you ask for the computer to correct your test, it will display a chart giving your results. Each question in the test is linked to a review activity. The questions that you have answered correctly will be displayed with a button marked Optional, meaning that you can choose to do the activity or not. For the questions you have answered incorrectly, a Recommended button will appear. Just click on this button to go to the corresponding review activity.

You're not alone!

If you are registered with a school board, you will have the support of an instructor or tutor, to whom you can e-mail your questions at all times.

If you don't have the support of an instructor and would like to, you should communicate with a school board that offers this service.

The help function, integrated into the software, is always there to help you solve certain problems.

Three assignments corrected by your instructor or tutor

At the end of the third and seventh (last) units, you must do an assignment (in writing) for your instructor or tutor to correct. Download the assignment files from the main page or your planner and then print them (the files are in PDF format).

Although the assignments do not count towards the final examination, you must obtain an average of at least 60% on the three of them in order for your instructor or tutor to authorize you to take the final examination.

Final summary

Once you have completed the seven course units, it is important that you read the final summary; it reviews the main elements of the course that should be mastered at this stage.

Self-evaluation test

The final summary is followed by a self-evaluation test which will allow you to check if you have attained the learning objectives. It consists of approximately ten questions that are similar to those to be answered in the final examination. Although you can do this activity as many times as you like, the computer saves only your first result.
