Does the cost of a course include access to accreditation?

To obtain credit for a course you must successfully pass an exam under the supervision of an instructor. EduSOFAD’s courses are designed to prepare you for this exam.

If you are registered with a school board, either at an institution or for distance learning, you may take this exam with no additional cost. If you are taking an eduSOFAD course as an independent learner, you may sign up to take the exam through a school board for an additional fee.

When can I start taking courses? When do they end?

You may begin a course at any time that is convenient for you, as soon as you have paid the fees and received a message confirming that your payment has been received. When you begin the course, you will be assigned an access code, which will be valid for a specified number of days. This will determine the amount of time you have to complete the course.

What are the steps involved in taking an online course?

The online courses available on eduSOFAD take place entirely online. Please note, however, that you must print out or order certain materials separately, (e.g. notebooks, course requirements, an experiment kit).

During your first online session, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions to guide you and help you explore your new learning environment. Then it will be up to you to determine the schedule and length of time of your online sessions. You can work at your own pace and in the location that best suits your needs.

In addition to the interactive activities and multimedia learning tools that are part of your e-learning course, you can test and review your skills with periodic quizzes based on the course material. At the end of the course there will be a final evaluation to test your understanding of the entire course content. And throughout the course, you will be given tasks or assignments that you are required to submit to your instructor, who will provide corrections and comments on your progress.

The information you or your learning institution provides to eduSOFAD will help facilitate communication between you and your instructor or tutor during the time it takes you to complete your studies.

What materials do I require to take an online course?

You must have access to a computer that is connected to the Internet. You should also have a basic understanding of how Internet browsers and email applications work. All of our courses are compatible with PC, MAC and other systems.

For most courses, you will need to verify your computer configuration before starting so as to ensure that it has the capability and software to run properly. You may need to install some software applications (also called “plug-ins”) that you can download for free from the Internet. For certain courses you may also need to have access to a printer.

What if I need help from an instructor during a course?

The educational institutions of school boards are organized to provide you with course help and support during your studies, whether you are registered with an on-site institution or for distance learning. Contact your preferred educational institution to find out more about admission and registration requirements.
