Equations and inequalities II (MTH-4101)

  • Overview

    This is the second of two compulsory courses on solving equations and inequalities. In this course, students learn methods of solving systems of equations in two variables. They also learn to represent systems of equations or inequalities graphically.

  • Outline

    - Graphing a system of equations
    - Solving a system of equations by comparison
    - Solving a system of equations by substitution
    - Solving a system of equations by elimination through addition
    - Solving a system of equations: four possible methods
    - Solving everyday problems
    - Graphing a system of inequalities

  • Target Population

    Anyone who wishes to complete the Secondary IV Mathematics program, which is equivalent to MTH-416, MTH-426 or MTH-436 courses in the youth sector.

  • Prerequisites

    MTH-3003-2

  • Specific Computer Resources Required

    Quick Time Player and Acrobat Reader (the download links are provided). Access to a printer is required. Presently this course is not comptabile with Intel based Mac computer.

  • Remark

    Each assignment file must be downloaded and printed by the student. The student then writes his (her) solutions and answers and sends this handwritten copy to his (her) tutor or hands it to his (her) instructor.

  • Assessment

    In order to obtain credits for this course, the student must pass a final examination at his (her) school board. This examination counts for 100% of the mark that will appear on his (her) transcript.
